Happy World Wellbeing Week!
We know that mental health is important, but what exactly is it?
Our lovely Beingwell expert Grace McMahon spills the beans:
Mental health, defined by the World Health Organisation, is
"a state of well-being in which the individual realises their own abilities, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully, and is able to make a contribution to their community."
And remember: Our mental health is incredibly complex - someone who isn't experiencing a mental health problem is not guaranteed to be happy or have the ‘perfect’ life. It’s also possible to have a diagnosed condition and feel pretty good for a lot of the time. It's important to take care of our mental health, nurture it and not wait until a problem pops up.
